He Gives Us The Words and We Speak - Day 5

This is day 5 of 21 days of the power of prayer…during this prayer time we are connecting the power of the Holy Spirit to prayer. Jesus wants His Church to be bold and pray with power!

Effective prayer happens when we pray God’s will and we can only do that when we pray the words that He gives us to pray.

Jesus was teaching His disciples how to pray when He said this in Matthew 6:10 - “Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

He wants us to pray God’s will on earth. We find out what God’s will is through His word and by the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit will give us the words to pray because He knows the Father’s will. So we must rely on the Holy Spirit to give us the words and we must decide to speak those words.

Maybe you’ve heard the phrase “silent prayer”? There is no such thing as silent prayer. God gave us a voice and He wants us to use it.

Also, some have read the scripture in Romans 8:27 - “Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” and have thought, “oh because the Holy Spirit is making intercession for us and praying for us, we really don’t need to pray. But that is not what that verse is saying at all.

He makes intercession through us as we pray because He is giving us the words to speak.

The Holy Spirit will pray through us but He doesn’t make us speak. We have to yield. This is a process of allowing Him to use us to pray. We become a vessel for Him to use in prayer. As a vessel we wait for Him to pour in and then we pour out what He has poured in. This is yielding. Yielding to the Holy Spirit is connecting to His power and His wisdom.

When we are filled with the Holy Spirit and speak in another language unknown to us, we yield our heart, mind and mouth to Him. We speak the unknown spiritual words that come from our heart that is filled with the Holy Spirit. He gives us the words and we do the speaking.

“And they were all filled (diffused throughout their souls) with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other (different, foreign) languages (tongues), as the Spirit kept giving them clear and loud expression [in each tongue in appropriate words].” (Acts 2:4, AMP)

When they were filled with the Holy Spirit in the upper room, they spoke and the Holy Spirit gave them the words to speak and the language to speak it in.

Those words and those languages did not come from the mind of man but the Spirit of God.

This process is a key when we understand what it means to pray in the Spirit.

From the Holy Spirit to our spirit and then out of our mouth! This is powerful praying.

Go ahead and connect with the Spirit of God right now and begin to pray the words that He gives you.
