Day 10 - Your Next Step

Yesterday we looked at the first step of a disciple which is to believe that Jesus is who the Father says He is, trust Him with your whole heart and confess Him as your Lord. And While your first step with Jesus is the biggest, your next step with Jesus is the most important.

Jesus said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.” (Luke 9:23, NLT)

Today we have the opportunity to take another step with the Lord. The question is not "Will He lead me?" but "Will we follow?" Life with Jesus does not remain neutral or go backwards. He has a new step for us today. Today is really all we have and we need to make it count for eternity. Following Jesus today is taking the next step in front of you. Don't stop, keep moving ahead.

Ask, seek and knock. Jesus is telling us as His disciples to be persistent and not give up.

“Ask, and the gift is yours. Seek, and you’ll discover. Knock, and the door will be opened for you. For every persistent one will get what he asks for. Every persistent seeker will discover what he longs for. And everyone who knocks persistently will one day find an open door.  “Do you know of any parent who would give his hungry child, who asked for food, a plate of rocks instead? Or when asked for a piece of fish, what parent would offer his child a snake instead? If you, imperfect as you are, know how to lovingly take care of your children and give them what’s best, how much more ready is your heavenly Father to give wonderful gifts to those who ask him?” Matthew 7:7–11 TPT

As long as we continue to take the next step with Him, He will tell us what the next step is. Guidance comes with movement. It is difficult to sit in a parked car and turn the wheels while you are sitting still. But the minute you crank up the engine and give it a little gas, turning the wheel to the left or right becomes easier.

A lot of people are waiting on God, only to find after a long time that He has been waiting on them.

When Saul met Jesus on the road to Damascus and surrendered his life to Him, Saul asked "what do You want me to do?" (Acts 9:6) And Jesus told Saul what to do and where to go.

Are you surrendering yourself to the Lord daily? And asking Him what He wants you to do? What does He say?

Say this: I belong to Jesus and I will obey Him today. He leads me into my next step with Him.

Pray this: Lord, I hear Your voice because I am Your sheep. I will do what You tell me to do today because I belong to You. Thank you for always leading me into my next step. I trust You and I am determined to move with You and obey You today. In Jesus Name, Amen"
