Day 19 - Spirit to spirit

“But God now unveils these profound realities to us by the Spirit. Yes, he has revealed to us his inmost heart and deepest mysteries through the Holy Spirit, who constantly explores all things. After all, who can really see into a person’s heart and know his hidden impulses except for that person’s spirit? So it is with God. His thoughts and secrets are only fully understood by his Spirit, the Spirit of God. For we did not receive the spirit of this world system but the Spirit of God, so that we might come to understand and experience all that grace has lavished upon us. And we articulate these realities with the words imparted to us by the Spirit and not with the words taught by human wisdom. We join together Spirit-revealed truths with Spirit-revealed words. Someone living on an entirely human level rejects the revelations of God’s Spirit, for they make no sense to him. He can’t understand the revelations of the Spirit because they are only discovered by the illumination of the Spirit.” (1 Corinthians 2:10–14, TPT)

One of the reasons that God created us living spirits is so that He could communicate with Him. We are a spirit, we have a soul and we live in a body. When we contact God we contact Him from the spirit or with our spirit.

Prayer is not an exercise of the mind because God is not a "universal mind". When we pray and communicate with God, our mind does benefit but so does our whole being - spirit, soul and body. Because we are a tri-part being, if something affects one part of us, it will affect the other parts of us as well.

From the above scripture passage we can see a number of things. One thing that we can see is that God wants to convey His thoughts and even His secrets to us. He wants us to know what He knows.

The way that we receive this knowledge, wisdom and revelation is from His spirit to our spirit. He shows and speaks them to us by using spiritually understood words spoken by His Spirit. This sounds really deep and complex, like it can only happen with those that He has some special high and exalted relationship with. Almost like you have to be "good enough" to understand God.

The truth is that we can never be good enough to communicate with God that is why Jesus came to earth. He was the only one that was good enough. And now those that believe that He is the Son of God and trust Him enough to follow Him, He gives us the grace and ability to hear the voice of God by the Spirit of God.

The thing that makes the difference is believing in and following Jesus. The more that we follow Jesus the more that our spiritual ears tune in the voice of God. It's the way that God created us, to hear Him and receive from His Spirit.

Say this: I hear God with the ears of my spirit. God created me to communicate with Him everyday. He speaks and I hear. I belong to Him.

Pray this: Lord, thank You that Jesus is good enough and because I am a follower of Jesus and a believer, He is in me and I am in Him. I am Your child and I hear Your voice. Thank you for speaking to me and showing me things today. Help me to be sensitive to Your voice and Your word. Draw me closer to You through Your word. In Jesus Name"
