Ask and Receive - Day 4

This is day 4 of 21 days of the power of prayer…connecting the power of the Holy Spirit to prayer. Jesus wants His Church to pray with power.

To tie onto a point from yesterday’s video …I knew that I needed the power of the Holy Spirit and I discovered that God had given His Spirit to the church on the day of Pentecost. What I needed next is to receive it.

Listen to Luke 11:9-13 from the Passion translation - “So it is with your prayers. Ask and you’ll receive. Seek and you’ll discover. Knock on heaven’s door, and it will one day open for you. Every persistent person will get what he asks for. Every persistent seeker will discover what he needs. And everyone who knocks persistently will one day find an open door. “Let me ask you this: Do you know of any father who would give his son a snake on a plate when he asked for a serving of fish? Of course not! Do you know of any father who would give his daughter a spider when she had asked for an egg? Of course not! If imperfect parents know how to lovingly take care of their children and give them what they need, how much more will the perfect heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit’s fullness when his children ask him.”

    Great takeaways from this verse
  • The Holy Spirit’s fullness is the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and it is a good gift
  • God wants us as His children to have good gifts
  • All we need to do to receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit is to ask the Father…and receive
  • The gift of the Holy Spirit in our life fills us with His power and strength

Receiving from God requires faith... look at this verse in James

“And if anyone longs to be wise, ask God for wisdom and he will give it! He won’t see your lack of wisdom as an opportunity to scold you over your failures but he will overwhelm your failures with his generous grace. Just make sure you ask empowered by confident faith without doubting that you will receive. For the ambivalent person believes one minute and doubts the next. Being undecided makes you become like the rough seas driven and tossed by the wind. You’re up one minute and tossed down the next. When you are half-hearted and wavering it leaves you unstable. Can you really expect to receive anything from the Lord when you’re in that condition?” (James 1:5–8, TPT)

Asking for anything from the Lord requires faith.

If you desire to experience the power of the Holy Spirit in your life right now, ASK the Father and He will fill you up.

You don’t have to wait until you learn more or become good enough…He loves simple faith that doesn’t doubt and He loves to give good gifts that strengthen and fill us with courage and boldness.
