The Altar - Day 1

Today's word is Altar.
The word altar is from the latin word - altare meaning HIGH. An altar is a usually raised structure or place on which sacrifices are offered or incense is burned in worship. It is a place...think about that.

A place where we go to place something on as we worship the Lord. This points us to the scripture in Romans 12:1 where the Holy Spirit through the Apostle Paul pleads with us to offer ourselves to God. “And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.”

The place that we pray becomes an altar when we lay ourselves down in worship to Him. Isn't good to know that God doesn't dwell in a man-made building that was made with stone or wood or even gold.

The moment that we become born again He comes to live in our hearts by the Holy Spirit and anytime that we choose to pray we are at the altar. And at that altar we willing lay our lives - spirit, soul and body down to Him. This is true worship and this is what God desires us to do.

So remember as you pray today that you are approaching the very throne of God and there is an altar there.
What will you lay down on that altar?
What can you give the One who has given you everything?
What does He require of you?
Your worship, your heart, your love, your devotion, your obedience?

The altar is a powerful place of surrender and worship. So, consider all that He has done for you and all that He has given you on all of His grace and mercy then approach His throne of grace and lay down all that you have.

Give Him everything on the altar today.
