Wise In Your Own Eyes

“Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil.” (Proverbs 3:7, NKJV)

Don’t be wise on your own eyes

The more that we think we know the less open we are to the Lord.

There have been a number of times in my own life that I thought that the Lord was leading me only to discover it was my feelings.

You may ask, “how did you come to that conclusion?” Good question…I kept submitting my heart to the Lord. It’s that "nevertheless" moment that Jesus had in the garden.

If we want His will we have to give up our will.

So we have to examine our heart to see if we are leaning on our own understanding which means trusting in our own ability to reason.

This is more than just examining your thoughts…it is giving the Holy Spirit permission to search your heart. Your intentions and motives.

Here’s the message Bible translation of Proverbs 3:5-7 - Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil!

We’ve got to listen for His voice which means we need to tune our ears to Him. We also must purposely tune out the noise that can be too loud.

Here’s a comment that I get a lot of the time…"God gave us common sense doesn’t He expect us to use it?"

Yes, He gave us common sense but He expects us to use wisdom that comes from Him…which means that we have to seek Him for the answer.

God doesn’t expect us to do what we know to do…He expects us to seek Him and do what he wants to do.

When we think we have something figured out we are heading down the road of leaning on our own understanding.

We must pray through this question…."is this just a good idea or is this You God?"

A good idea will only produce good results.

But a word from the Lord, with His direction and His plan will bring His blessing!
We need His blessing!
