Lifeway Church in Dacula, GA | Sundays 10 AM

Set Apart By Him

The reason that we have two seasons in the year where we focus on prayer is so that we can learn how to pray.

No matter how long we have been born again and had a relationship with God we can always learn more about how to communicate with Him. You never get to a place where you quit growing.

This week I am going to reflect back on some of the things that we said during the message yesterday. I encourage everyone to take the message on Sunday and go back and dig deeper into each scripture and each point so the Lord can show you more about what the Holy Spirit is saying.

Let’s begin by going back to the Scripture in Luke “So He said to them, “When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.” (Luke 11:2, NKJV)

The very first thing that Jesus tells us to do is to address Him as Father.

By calling Him Father we are identifying ourselves as His child.

Prayer is all about relationship

Now we have to remember that Jesus is telling His disciples to call God, Father. He’s not just telling everyone to call God Father.

Jesus preached a Gospel of repentance and accepting the truth that He is the Messiah sent from the Father in Heaven.

When we believe the truth in our heart that Jesus Christ is Lord and confess Him with our mouth that He is now our Lord…then we become a born again child of God.

This decision that we make changes everything.

At that moment we are delivered out of the Kingdom of Darkness and into the Kingdom of God.

God Himself recreates our spirit and we become a new creature.

He sets us apart to do His will.

“Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.” (Hebrews 10:19–22, NKJV)

God consecrates us by the blood of His Son

Then as this verse in Hebrews says because we have been consecrated by God we can draw near to God. We can boldly enter into His presence.

The privilege in prayer is that Our Father expects us to approach Him because He has made us His child.

He is the one that opened the door to His throne room!

We didn’t have what it took to open the door but He did and He opened the door the moment that we said yes to Jesus.

Now when we call Him Father it means so much more because you realize what He had to do to make you His child.

Jesus went all the way to the cross and shed His blood for each one of us so that we could become a child of God.

And to call Him Father, how powerful and precious is that?!

Let’s make this confession today
God is my Father and I am His child. I enter the holy of holies through the blood of Jesus. My Father has set me apart and consecrated me. He made me special with a special purpose to do His will everyday. I boldly draw near to Him daily. He speaks to me as His child and I obey all that He tells me to do.
