"I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]” (John 16:33, AMP)
From this scripture we see that:
The things that are happening in the world have not taken God by surprise. Jesus told us in Matthew chapter 24 that there would be wars and rumors of wars.
“And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.” (Matthew 24:6, NKJV)
The phrase "see that you be not troubled" indicates that we have to resist the temptation of being troubled. When worry comes we have to resist it. When the temptation to dig a hole and jump in it comes to us, we have to resist it. We can't walk in faith, confidence and boldness if we are going to worry and fret about what is going on in the world.
When we allow worry to control us, the peace of God diminishes in our lives.
This is why Jesus gave us His word and His world overcoming faith!
“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” (1 John 5:4, NKJV)
He knew that we needed something that is more powerful than all the fear and worry in the world. The faith that God gave us is greater than every weapon that enemy has to launch at us.
Greater is He that is in us than He that is in the world!
Heaven and earth will pass away but His word (and our faith!) will stand forever.
There is power in every word of God, so today take John 16:33 and begin to meditate on each of the points above and Thank God for giving you the world overcoming faith that you need right now.
Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might! Eph. 6:10
Say this:
I have the world overcoming faith in me today. Jesus has given me all that I need to resist the worry and fear that is coming against me. I am a world overcomer and I am strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
Pray this:
Lord, I receive and take hold of all that you have provided for me. Thank you for Your word because it is my strength. Use me today to bring strength to others around me. Let them see Your power and might in me. I trust You with all my heart and know that you always provide for me and protect me. I take courage and I am full of your joy! Your joy is my strength! In Jesus Name.
From this scripture we see that:
- Jesus has forewarned us about the trials, tribulations, distress and frustrations of this world.
- Jesus' words bring peace and confidence.
- Jesus wants us to be of good cheer, by faith. (Not depending on the current circumstances)
- In order to be of good cheer and full of joy we have to take courage, be confident in Him and His power.
- Jesus overcame the world so that we can overcome the world.
- We can overcome the world with the same power that Jesus overcame the world with.
The things that are happening in the world have not taken God by surprise. Jesus told us in Matthew chapter 24 that there would be wars and rumors of wars.
