Day 8 - A Physical Reset

We’ve been talking a lot about putting the past in the past and forgiving others and forgiving ourselves. This morning, I want to us to take a look at a scripture that I brought out in the sermon yesterday it is first Corinthians chapter 6, verses 19 and 20.

1 Cor. 6:19-20 NKJV Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit [who is] in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.

There are some great points in the scripture that we need to think about in light of our reset this year. Part of our reset is fasting and fasting deals with the cravings and appetites of the body.

All of us have made commitments to taking taking better care of ourselves and become more healthy. I think we all know when we need to do better because we have the Holy Spirit in us and the body that God gave us actually belongs to God if we truly call Jesus our Lord and truly believe that we belong to him. We can all admit that there times in the past where we have failed, we need to repent, and learn a lesson so we can move on.

I admit that sometimes I do forget that my body belongs to the Lord and I give in and listen to my body and what it wants. I can justify feeding it anything and everything that it desires. That's exactly how I have put on more weight than I should have right now. I am going through this reset physically through fasting just like you are. I have confessed to God where and when I've missed it and I have received His forgiveness.

I expect the Holy Spirit to help me with my nutrition and exercise and I have a plan to get to my ideal weight this year. I know that God is totally involved with me bringing my flesh back in line with His will because he has invested in me. He has a plan for my life and wants me to live long and fulfill everything that he has planned for me on this earth. I believe this with all my Heart. So I can't change the past. I can't cry over the past. And I can't blame anyone else. I have to move forward by listening to Him and obeying Him. He will give me the power, the strength and ability to meet my goal. And as I move forward I cannot wallow in self-condemnation guilt and shame.

This is a big key - put the shame, guilt and self-condemnation behind you!

During this fast, I encourage you to pray and ask the Lord what he wants you to do specifically to take control over your flesh and the appetites of the soul.

I agree with you that God is working with you to perform a reset in your life in every area.

One of my favorite scriptures is third John two. It says beloved, I pray above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers. Soul prosperity is when we are walking free from condemnation and walking in faith, obeying God, and experiencing the peace of God in our spirit, soul and bodies.

Today is a day of victory for you! You can do it!
