He Calls You By Name
Exodus 3:4 (NKJV)
So when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.”
So have you ever really thought about what happened to Moses and what you would do if you heard a voice from a bush calling your name? Would you answer? Would you run? Would you faint? Hard to imagine, right?
It is certain that the Lord was doing all that He needed to do in order to get Moses attention. And from Mose's response we can see that he passed the test.
"Here I am."
These three words say a lot about Moses. By responding "Here I am" he was declaring that he had ears to hear and that he was listening to the Lord. This fact was monumental. Moses needed hearing ears in order to follow the Lord fully in the assignment to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt. Hearing ears were the building block for every other thing that Moses brought to the table.
The Lord needed to know that His man Moses could hear His voice and follow His instruction. So the moment that Moses answered "Here I am" the Lord must have rejoiced with some exceeding great joy!
When we respond to the call of the Lord with "Here I am" the Lord rejoices and knows that we are a person of faith and humility that He can use for His purpose and a big time assignment.
57 times in the NKJV Bible we find the phrase "the Lord said to Moses". This is an awesome fact because we know that the Lord continues to speak to those that hear, answer, submit and obey.
When we turn to God we are tuning our hearts to hear Him call us by name.
Challenge:
Practice responding to the Lord by randomly saying to the Lord "Here I am" during the day. This sets your expectation to always be prepared to hear from Him.
Say this:
I am always listening to the voice of the Lord. I am always available to do anything that the Lord needs me to do. I hear and obey quickly and precisely.
Pray this:
"Lord, You are my boss. I am at Your command. I am here and I am listening to Your voice. You have my complete attention. You can count on me to do all that You need me to do! In Jesus Name!"
