“Now it happened, on a certain day, that He got into a boat with His disciples. And He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side of the lake.” And they launched out. But as they sailed He fell asleep. And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water, and were in jeopardy. And they came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water. And they ceased, and there was a calm. But He said to them, “Where is your faith?” And they were afraid, and marveled, saying to one another, “Who can this be? For He commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him!”” (Luke 8:22–25, NKJV)
“... Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”(Luke 18:8b, NKJV)
Jesus is looking for faith in His disciples.
In Luke 8 they were in the boat headed to their destination and a storm appeared.
This is a direct parallel of today. We are the Body of Christ and we are heading to our destination, Heaven. Storms have come up one right after the other for the past two years. Intense storms, storms to knock us of course and drown us.
We can't stop the storm but we can stop the fear!
Jesus shows us what to do in the middle of a storm, He took out His faith. Jesus takes out His faith and uses it to rebuke the fear and the natural elements obeyed His command.
After Jesus took care of the immediate threat He asked them, "Where's your faith?" As if to say, "You could have done the same thing!" (After all, Peter did end up walking on the water in the middle of the storm later)
Our problem has been that when we face fear often times we panic and never take out our faith and do anything with it. We have the faith. But we just don't use it.
Remember that faith comes from God and it always works. We have faith and Jesus expects us to use it against fear and all of the forces of the enemy.
Are you facing a storm today? Take out your faith!
Jesus is looking for you to use your faith. He has shown us how to defeat fear and speak to the storms of life. Don't stay silent in the middle of the storm. Begin to declare, "Peace be still!"
Wake up, stand up and speak up. Tell the storm to cease, the mountain to move and use your faith.
Fear flees at the sound of faith!
Say this:
I have faith in God. He has given me all the faith I am ever going to need. I use my faith daily to defeat fear and every other weapon of the enemy. Peace be still! Mountain, move out of my way!
Pray this:
Lord, Thank you for giving me faith today. I choose to use it and I lift up my shield of faith to quench every firey dart of the enemy. Strengthen me with the power of Your Holy Spirit. I say no to fear and yes to faith and trust in You. You are with me and for me...and the Greater One lives in me. Thank you for Your word - faith comes hearing Your word. I choose to hear Your words over and above everything else today. In Jesus Name!
