We Are His Instruments

This morning we're going to reemphasize the powerful point that we made yesterday about presenting ourselves to God.

It is our responsibility to present ourselves to God daily.

Here's today's scripture
“And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.” (Romans 6:13, NKJV)

The amplified version of this scripture uses the words “continue to offer” and “yielding” which implies that it is not a one time act but a state of being.

I am continually putting myself in the hands of God to be used by Him for His purposes. I am no longer concerned about myself but I am totally concerned about what He wants me to do at all times.

So again, we see that we have the responsibility before God to give ourselves totally to him each day in prayer.

This prayer of consecration is a vital part of living for Jesus.

Because we believe that God gave us the life that we're living, which includes our spirit, soul, and body. Then we believe that we belong to him.

Paul even said it's no longer I that live, but Christ lives in me. We could even say that when we yield to the Holy Spirit, Christ lives through us. His wisdom and power make the difference in our life.

So let's picture ourselves as an instrument or tool like this screwdriver. This screwdriver can't do anything on its own. It needs the power of the hand, the muscle and the brain behind it. Without each of those things this screwdriver would be worthless.

We are useless without God and his power leading us where we need to be, when we need to be there and telling us what to do when we get there.

So, let’s imagine if the screwdriver is not submitted and could a mind of its own and a will of its own and decides to do something that the hand doesn't want it to do… We could even say the screwdriver is in rebellion.

If we found a rebellious screwdriver in our toolbox that would not obey us…we would not be able to use and we would probably throw it away.

Thank God that He is patient with us and does not throw us away, right?

He wants to use us in a greater way…But we have to ask ourselves now at this point…how yielded are we to Him?

How useful we are to God is determined by how yielded we are to Him.

Let’s truly declare today:
Lord, we lay down our will today and we yield ourselves to you as an instrument of righteousness. We want to do your will today MORE than we want to do our own will. We present ourselves completely to You today and everyday - In Jesus Name
