Faith Is Our Grip On God

Grace is God’s grip on us and faith is our grip on God.

Ephesians 2:8–9 (NKJV)
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

There is a “God side” and a “man side” to the spirit of faith. Our responsibility is to respond to His ability. He grabs hold of us with His grace so that we can grab hold of Him with our faith. He has initiated and we respond.

There are times where it seems as though your faith is failing. Times where you are doing all to stand and yet all you do doesn’t seem to be enough to see the desired result. It is in these times that we must realize that God’s grip of grace on us is stronger than our grip of faith on Him.

It is true that our responsibility is to study faith, walk by faith, speak faith and live in faith. We are responsible to reach out to God and trust Him with our whole heart. But we must also have faith in the fact that His grace is sufficient. We can never earn what He has freely given.

When it seems that your faith is not working rest in the fact that He has hold of you.

Heb 4:3,9–10 NKJV
“For we who have believed do enter that rest,...”

“There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.”

Entering into the rest of faith is knowing that it is by His grace that you have what He has promised you and what you are standing for. He is the only One that can bring His Word to pass in your life. All He needs from you is for you to believe that He can and will do it.

Walking the faith walk is not a struggle. The evidence of faith is joyful expectation. You can identify this joyful expectation when you look in the mirror and see your face with peace and joy all over it in the middle of standing in faith. Faith rejoices before the promise becomes sight. Mary began to praise God and sing when she met with Elizabeth after accepting the word of the Lord from the angel Gabriel that she was going to bear a Son, Jesus.

Don’t struggle and fight with your reasoning. Quit trying to figure everything out. Say it out loud, “I am fighting the good fight of faith. I rest in the grace of God and I rejoice in God’s promise to me. It shall come to pass!”

Confession:
“I am gripping God by my faith today. He has already gripped me with His awesome grace. His grace is sufficient for me. I choose to enter into the rest of God by trusting Him with my whole heart and not leaning on my understanding. His Word to me is powerful enough to bring itself to pass. I refuse to struggle to bring God’s will to pass. His grace is working in me and causing me to stand in faith until the promise becomes sight.”
