Waiting But Not Wasting - Day 11

Today's word is wait.

I just want to take a couple of minutes and encourage you in your praying from the principle of "the waiting period" back to our analogy of "the examination". In the doctors office there's a room for waiting. It's called "the waiting room".

When we go into the doctors examination room we have to wait for him. It seems there's a whole lot of waiting. So it is with a spiritual examination that the Lord is performing on us. We show up for our appointment. We present our spirit, soul and bodies a living sacrifice to Him. We bring our Bible, notebook, and pen. And then we wait. We may sing a worship song using our mobile phone. We may begin to meditate scripture. We may begin to pray in the spirit, but we are waiting to hear the voice of the Lord. We're waiting to hear the voice of our shepherd.

We recognize his voice. We expect to hear his voice. We are waiting in faith to hear what he wants to say to us. Psalm 27:14 says "wait on the Lord be of good courage and he shall strengthen your heart" so we need to know that. As we wait upon the Lord, He will strengthen our heart.

Waiting time is not wasted time.

Isaiah 40:31 says "they that wait upon the lord shall renew their strength." We should expect to renew our strength each time we are waiting upon the Lord.

Psalm 130:5-6 "I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word, I do hope. My soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning. Yes, more than those who watch for the morning."

We are not waiting just to buy some time. We wait because we expect. We know the one we're waiting for and the one that we're waiting on, he is faithful. He's faithful to speak.

He wants us to know what we don't know. He wants us to see what we don't see. And he wants to help us to conform to his will.

So be encouraged today as you wait. Be still and know that he is God. Let the peace of God that passes all understanding guard over your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus.

Declare today, I hear the voice of the Lord. I hear the voice of the good shepherd. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.

“My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God. Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah” (Psalm 62:5–8, NKJV)
