Day 11 - Over and Above

Let's jump right back into the account of the widow in second Kings chapter 4. She had to make room for more.

We covered one point yesterday. It was that she had to expand her view of God and His provision in her life. Then she had to obey what the prophet told her. Obedience is the key to blessing and breakthrough. We cannot receive all that God has for us in this year if we are not obedient to do what He instructs us to do. Obedience is not optional…it is mandatory.

Today’s point comes from verses 5 and 6 - “God fills what you provide”.  Let’s read verse 5 and 6 “So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons, who brought [the vessels] to her; and she poured [it] out. Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, "Bring me another vessel." And he said to her, "[There is] not another vessel." So the oil ceased.”

Let’s not forget that the purpose of all of this was to perform a miracle of provision for the lady that desperately needed to pay off her debt so that she could save her sons.

It didn’t just happen because a donkey showed up at their front door with a big sack of coins on his back. She and her sons had to become involved. There was something that they had to do…called work.

She and her sons went everywhere borrowing empty vessels to fill. It doesn’t say how many vessels they found or how long it took them to gather the vessels. I am sure they went to as many neighbors as they could to find all the empty vessels that they could. And we know that they had to have brought many vessels because the result was abundance.

When every vessel was filled, she ended up having more oil than she needed to pay the debt that she owed.

The flow of oil only stopped when there were no more jars to fill. God doesn’t do anything halfway.

This provision was over and above. Our God loves to go over and above.

Today we should ask the Holy Spirit to help us find more space in our lives so that the Lord can fill it. He will help us identify things that we need to change and rearrange to make space for more.

One of my favorite scriptures is Ephesians 3:20 where it says that God is able to do above all that we ask or think. And He is!…Say that, “I believe that God is able to above all that I ask or think!” But the verse doesn’t end there.

The next phrase is important… It says according to the power that is at work in you. We must let more of the power of God work through us this coming year. Say that, “I will let more of the power of God work through me this year!”

Tomorrow, I will bring out the last point in this account in 2 Kings 4. You don’t want to miss it! We are praying for you as you are praying and fasting today and we believe that 2025 will be your year to break forth and to be fruitful and experience all of God's best this year.

We love you and have an awesome Thursday
