Expecting In Prayer

Expectation in prayer is necessary to see results.

God expects us to expect from Him.

When we pray it is not time to be bashful or see ourselves as unworthy.

Jesus told us to ask. It is the will of God that we ask the Father for the things we need when we pray.

He knows that we have needs and He is a good Father that desires to give us all that we need.

Many Christians have been taught that God gives us what we need just because He knows that we need it. This type of thinking leads to taking God for granted and assuming that because He knows something that He will eventually do something about it.

This weakens our faith and we begin to grow cold and indifferent toward Him. We quit asking Him for the things we need and our relationship becomes stale.

Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. Matt. 6:8 NKJV

Even though our Heavenly Father knows we need something before we ask, He still expects us to ask.

Asking God for all that we need proves our dependency on Him. The more that we depend on God the deeper our relationship grows and the more that we communicate with Him.

Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. - Mark 11:24 (NKJV)

Prayer involves asking and asking requires faith.

I believe, more than ever, that the Lord wants us to look to Him to fulfill our every need. He is waiting to show us how faithful and how good He is. He wants us to trust Him with all of our heart and never lean on or rely on our feelings or understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). He is our source for everything.

“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. - Luke 11:9–10 (NKJV)

We learn that only God has everything that we need, and this is the reason why we go to Him in prayer first. By praying first we are involving Him in everything in our lives.

Are you at a place in your relationship with God that you don’t expect anything or ask Him for anything?

If so, it is time to stir up our expectation and faith to begin to ask Him for the things that we need. To ask, seek and knock, again. To trust Him with our whole heart again.

What do you need from God right now? Ask Him and expect to receive it. He is faithful. He is a good Father and He is our source.
