I want to begin again by saying that Pastor Sheila and I are praying for you daily and we pray the Lord is doing a work in you that is transformative.
We have received a few messages back of how these videos are helping you. If you want to drop us a message just respond to this text and we will text you back. Thank you for the feedback.
I am going to go deeper on the cleansing power of the blood and the word.
Let’s go back to our scripture from yesterday. We are going to make it today’s scripture as well.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9, NKJV)
We need to realize that we are not transformed by the number of scriptures that we read every day, but by the revelation in a scripture.
So maybe one of your goals this year is to use the dwell app to listen to the whole Bible in a year but please understand that it is the revelation in one word from God that can change your life for years to come. So our goal is not quantity but revelation.
We said yesterday that confession of our sin is like dumping the past and is necessary to receive God’s forgiveness and to putting the past behind you.
Jesus has already taken care of the sin issue by giving His life and sprinkling His blood on the mercy seat of God.
He has made the first move.
Our response to what He has done is to come before the throne of God’s grace and confess our sin in order to receive His forgiveness and cleansing.
He cleanses us the moment we receive His forgiveness by faith.
He separates us from our sin.
Psalm 103:12 “As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.”
Once we have confessed our sin He doesn’t remember our sins anymore.
“For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”” (Hebrews 8:12, NKJV)
So once we have been forgiven by God and maybe we feel that guilt and it leads us to repent again for the same sin, the Lord says back to us, “I don’t know what you are talking about.” He has forgotten them and He wants us to as well. He has cleansed us according to 1 John 1:9.
Here’s where the challenge is: the enemy wants us to remember our sin. He brings us vivid memories in the form of thoughts and even nightmares with video and audio to remind us of our sin.
We have to resist the enemy with the word and cleanse ourselves with the word.
The Bible talks about the cleansing power of the word of God in Ephesians 5 where it speaks to the husbands to cleanse their wives by the washing of water by the word and Jesus said to His disciple that the word that He had spoken to them had a cleansing effect.
The more that we take Gods word and speak it over our minds the more that we cleanse our minds from every remembrance of the past.
Yes, God cleansed us when we confessed but we continue to cleanse ourselves, our mind and emotions when we speak His word over ourselves daily.
Here are some scriptures that talk about being set free from sin and your past
John 8:32, 36; Galatians 5:1; Romans 6:18; Romans 8:1-4; Romans 6:14
Write out some confessions from those scriptures and begin to cleanse your mind and emotions with the power of the word of God!
Walk free from the enemy’s traps and the anything that would bind you from the past.
Today is your day of victory!
