Words of blessing should flow out of someone that is blessed of the Lord.
Ephesians 4:29 (AMP)
Let no foul or polluting language, nor evil word nor unwholesome or worthless talk [ever] come out of your mouth, but only such [speech] as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others, as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing and give grace (God’s favor) to those who hear it.
Strife can always be traced back to words. What are we speaking and what are we allowing in our ears?
God made us to be a vessel of blessing. We are blessed by Him and blessed when we take in His Word into our heart. We are a blessing when we act on His Word and speak His Word to others.
We can cut off strife in our own lives by controlling what comes out of our mouth and what we allow to be spoken in our ears. We have the responsibility to guard both our mouth and our ears. It is our responsibility to say (in a nice way) to someone that is creating strife, "my ears and my heart are not a garbage can".
Proverbs 26:20–21 (CJB)
If there’s no wood, the fire goes out; if nobody gossips, contention (strife) stops. As coals are to embers and wood to fire is a quarrelsome person to kindling strife.
Faith works for those that are walking in love and walking in love means that we are aligning our words up with His Word.
The truth is we have the fruit of the Spirit within us and when we use self-control we can shut our mouth and shut down strife. It is our responsibility.
When we value one another as Jesus values each one of us we will not allow ourselves to say anything contrary to His Word. We were created to speak words of grace. We have been empowered to minister grace to one another.
We are blessed by God to be a blessing for God. Be a blessing by choosing to speak words that are filled with the grace and goodness of God today.
Choose you this day what kind of words you will speak. Choose life, choose blessing, choose peace, choose love.
Confession:
"I am learning about the power of the words that I speak. I am blessed by God to be a blessing for God. I align my words with His Word. I choose to minister grace to those that hear me today. I think before I speak and I measure what I am about to say up against the Word of God. I cut off strife by controlling what comes out of my mouth and what I allow in my ears."
