Search My Mind - part 2 - Day 13

Today's word is thoughts.

We need the help of the Holy Spirit to help us realize what we are thinking so that we can analyze it. Until we are really thinking about what we are thinking about we can't begin to judge our thoughts according to the word of God. Our thoughts are powerful and the Bible confirms that by saying "as a man thinks in His heart so is he" or in other words what you think about yourself is what you become.

If you think that you are a failure and you keep failing, you begin to believe it and then that stronghold of being a failure begins to dominate you. You see yourself as a failure, begin to speak failure and everyone around you will begin to agree with you.

The way that we begin to dismantle the stronghold that has been controlling our minds is to take God's word into prayer and allow Him to shine the light on the areas where we have allowed wrong thinking to control us. This requires diligence and persistence. It requires serious commitment and dedication to the Holy Spirit who will lead us through the process of casting down those thoughts one by one and replacing them with the words of God.

What God has said about us and His promises to us are the only things powerful enough to change your mindset. Applying God's word to your life by meditating on it and speaking it over your life activates your heart to believe. Your will begins to agree with God's will that His truth becomes your truth and you begin to see yourself like He sees you and talk about yourself like He talks about you. This is the process of transformation that takes place within the heart and mind first. This happens in your personal, private daily time with the Lord. He is your counselor that corrects your thoughts and directs your thoughts. This is exactly how the Holy Spirit works with us as we give Him permission. We allow Him to control us instead of trying to do our own thing or worse than that opening the door to the enemy to control us.

The mind is the gateway into the heart. This is why the word teaches that we should guard our heart with all diligence. “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” (Proverbs 4:23, NLT) The Hebrew word for guard means to protect which should remind us of the shield of faith that we have as part of God's armor that He gave us to quench every fiery dart of the enemy. We capture the thoughts that do not belong in our mind with our shield and cast them down and out of our mind so that we can replace them with the thoughts that we have in God's word. This is a huge part of our prayer of examination.

Give God your mind this morning and allow the Holy Spirit to shine the light of His word on your thoughts. Begin the transformation.
