Day 9 - We Need More

We believe that God wants more for us in 2025 because he always causes us to grow an increase and experience fruitfulness.

So today we're going to look at the account of the widow in second Kings chapter 4. She had to make room for more. It looks like from the scripture from this chapter that there are five points to making room for more I know I'll not be able to cover all five points this morning, but I'll get through as many as I can today and continue tomorrow.

In second kings chapter 4 verse one it says the wife of a man from the company of the prophets, cried out to Elijah, your servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revealed the Lord, but now his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves. So the widow had to acknowledge her situation, she had to recognize the need for more and she made an appeal to the prophet Elisha.

Sometimes we don't experience more because we don't recognize or admit our need for more.

It was obvious that this woman was in a crisis and she needed to pay off her husband's debt. She was desperate. There are times when we are desperate that we open our eyes to see what we could be missing when we're comfortable. Desperation brings urgency, which means that we need to wake up.

Many times that we don't experience more in our lives is because we are content with what we already have and we become complacent.

Complacency is not just standing still it is actually going back backwards. In fact in our spiritual lives, if we are not moving forward, we are slipping backwards. We should always recognize the need for more, more of God, more of God's word, more of his presence in our life, more dedication and commitment.

This widow knew that she needed more. We should know that we need more this coming year.

The second point in this account is found in verse two where Elisha replies to the woman how can I help you tell me what do you have in your house? She said your server has nothing there at all except a small jar of olive oil.

So the second point is to use what you have. God begins working with what we already have no matter how small it may seem to us.

The widow thought she had nothing, but she did have a small jar. Never underestimate what God can do with what you already have whether it be resources or time or talent or just your willingness to roll up your sleeves and do something you've never done before.

God is wanting to us to look around ourselves and to identify things that we can surrender to him so that he can use them to bring us more in this coming year.

Tomorrow, I will bring out a couple more points from this account but today we should focus on recognizing our need for more and looking around us to identify what we have and how we can surrender it to the Lord.

We believe that 2025 is our year to break forth and to be fruitful and to experience all of God's best this year and we're praying for you.
