Passion Week - By His Stripes

“Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses) And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement (punishment) for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity (sin) of us all.” (Isaiah 53:4–6, NKJV)

He became sick with our sicknesses so that we would become healed with His healing.

God's will for healing was forever settled when Jesus took stripes on His back before He hung on the cross.

Some Christians have been unsure whether it is in fact God's will to heal everyone. They have been sincere in their assumption that if we pray for someone and they die then it must not have been God's will that they live. Whether people live or die does not change the fact that Jesus took stripes upon His back for their healing.

Jesus died so that all might be saved. Jesus also took stripes on His back so that all might be healed.

If you believe that Jesus sacrifice on the cross was enough for your salvation then believe that the stripes on His back were enough for your healing.

Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, "Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you." And at once some of the scribes said within themselves, "This Man blasphemes!" But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts? "For which is easier, to say, '[Your] sins are forgiven you,' or to say, 'Arise and walk'? "But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins"--then He said to the paralytic, "Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house." And he arose and departed to his house. Now when the multitudes saw [it], they marveled and glorified God, who had given such power to men. - Matthew 9:2-8 NKJV

The finished work that Jesus did on the cross included healing and salvation.

Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been [in that condition] a long time, He said to him, "Do you want to be made well?" The sick man answered Him, "Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me." Jesus said to him, "Rise, take up your bed and walk." And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath. - John 5:5-9 NKJV

The question is, "Do you want to be well?" The stripes that Jesus received before being crucified were given to Him so that we can receive God's healing power by faith. Today is your day to be healed.

Pray this:
Lord, thank you for the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross for my salvation and my healing. I see now that it was a finished work that included my healing. Just like I received my salvation by faith as a gift of grace, I receive my healing by faith as a gift of grace. Because Jesus rose from the dead, I believe that His resurrection power is now working in my body, and soul to heal. I take the healing that you have provided to honor the sacrifice that Jesus made for me. Thank you,, In Jesus Name, amen!
