This is day 9 of 21 days of DUNAMIS the power of prayer…today’s title is "He makes Intercession"…during these 21 days we are connecting the power of the Holy Spirit to prayer. Jesus wants His Church to be bold and pray with power. He wants His body complete the mission that Jesus began…and we do this only by the power of God.
Intercessor is a word that describes one of the functions of the Holy Spirit. It is not a familiar word to us as it is not a word that we use in our everyday language. It basically means to come to the aid on behalf of someone.
The Holy Spirit is our helper at all times. When we don’t know what to do and when we don’t know what to say. We can call on Him and He is ready, willing and able to help us in all things.
Here is Romans 8:26 from the Passion translation - “And in a similar way, the Holy Spirit takes hold of us in our human frailty to empower us in our weakness. For example, at times we don’t even know how to pray, or know the best things to ask for. But the Holy Spirit rises up within us to super-intercede on our behalf, pleading to God with emotional sighs too deep for words.”
The way that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us is that He speaks through us when we pray in the spirit. We have been talking about the power of praying in the Holy Spirit during these 21 days of DUNAMIS. This is the difference that the baptism with the Holy Spirit makes. It is not just for show like a spiritual merit badge…it is empowerment to do something that we cannot do in our natural ability. He needs us to yield our heart and our voice so that He can intercede through us.
When we pray in the spirit empowered by the Holy Spirit we pray the perfect will of God. We express His words and His will on the earth with our voice. We are giving voice to the perfect will of God.
God needs the body of Christ to be the voice of the Holy Spirit in prayer on the earth today.
When we pray with the Holy Spirit we bring heavenly solutions to earth. We are asking God to do His will in every nation on this earth.
We want all people to open their eyes and respond to the Gospel and bow their knee to Jesus.
1 Timothy 2:1–2, AMP “First of all, then, I admonish and urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all men, For kings and all who are in positions of authority or high responsibility, that [outwardly] we may pass a quiet and undisturbed life [and inwardly] a peaceable one in all godliness and reverence and seriousness in every way.”
We are called to intercede by the power of the Holy Spirit regardless of what we think with our minds. God has a bigger plan. God’s plan is to save everyone that He created. He wants them to choose Jesus as their Lord and He needs our cooperation with the Holy Spirit to work His will.
The Holy Spirit making intercession through the church is part of God’s solution to bring in the harvest and push back the forces of evil in this world. He is counting on us to yield to praying in the spirit. Take some time right now and do that. Release some power and watch God work.
