The Popular Church or The Powerful Church?

Romans 1:16–17 (NKJV)
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

Sadly the majority of the Churches today have replaced the power of God with the desire to be popular. In the effort to become likable to the world and popular in the world's eyes we have focused more on the methods of "doing church" rather than the power of "being" the church.

The business of the church to grow has overtaken the sincere desire to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit.

The power of God that leads to salvation is still the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We cannot water down the Gospel and expect people to become a born again disciple of Jesus. The Gospel must begin to be preached at full strength again. The full Gospel says that it is good news that Jesus defeated the devil and provides spirit, soul and body to whosoever will receive it. When the full Gospel is preached there are accompanying signs following.

When Philip went down to Samaria and preached Christ to them there were miracles and signs that were performed through him. (Acts 8) The supernatural power of God is released when the Gospel is preached and it will affect the those that are bound by sickness and demonic oppression and possession.

We are witnessing more and more demonic manifestations in the world today and a "feel good" message will not deliver people under the bondage and control of the devil.

We must not back off of expecting demonstrations of the power of God in this hour. We are called to walk in the same power as the Church in the book of Acts.

God's power has not waned. We in the Church must begin to walk in His power and put on His glory to a greater degree.

Pray this today:
"Heavenly Father, I see that Your will is that the Church walk in Your power and shine with Your glory. I desire to do Your will and I begin to see myself as a part of the Glorious Church that preaches the full Gospel of power. I refuse to compromise the power of God for trying to be popular in the world's eyes. I will speak Your word with boldness and compassion. I expect to see more and more demonstrations of the power of God in my life and in my church."
