Being The Church

Acts 5:12 (NKJV)
And through the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon’s Porch.

All through the book of Acts you see "unity" and "power". Believers believing God and His power manifesting through them to perform signs, wonders and miracles. This is the will of God for the body of Christ today.

We are not called Christians in order to find a building and "do" church. And we are not asked by God to find time during the week when it's convenient for us to come to a building in order to hear a good talk. We carry the name of Jesus and each one of us are ordained to walk as He walked and talk as He talked to do the mighty works that He did in extreme power.

One of our greatest hurdles as members of the body of Christ is that we mostly see ourselves as members of some club where we go and "check in" once or twice a week. The majority of the body of Christ has a very weak understanding of fellowship and what it actually means to "take part". We see that the Pastor has responsibility toward the body but that is about the only one that really has to do anything.

The word responsibility has rapidly changed over the past few years to mean "what others are responsible to do for me" instead of "what I am required and expected to do". We must move past the mentality of "I'm going in order to receive." to "I'm going in order to give, first and receive, second." To fellowship is to take part and participate.

Pray this today:
"Lord, I see myself as an integral part of the glorious church. Thank you for calling me and equipping me to "be" the church. I allow Your love to flow through me to other members in the body to produce strength and unity. I realize that I am not here on earth for myself but my assignment from you is to walk in Your power to benefit the entire body of Christ. Thank you for a greater understanding of my responsibility to fellowship with the body."
