Day 20 - Prayer Develops Perseverance

“Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding on behalf of all the saints (God’s consecrated people).” (Ephesians 6:18, AMP)

Growing as a disciple of Jesus is very rewarding and at the same time challenging and demanding. We are constantly stretching ourselves in many areas at the same time. Learning how to serve each other and walk in love toward one another are just a couple of areas. Also, spending time in prayer and studying the word is wonderful but it requires time and effort. The opportunity to become weary presents itself on occasion especially if you continue to give out and quit taking in.

Weariness happens when we have more outgo than we have income. When we are constantly giving our time and effort for others and we don't make time for ourselves to refill our tank. If you don't put gasoline in your car, you can't go very far. (In fact, if you are already on empty you may not be able to get out of your own driveway)

Wanting to quit and give up is something that we all deal with. And if you are dealing with it right now, you are not alone. Remember, identifying the problem and admitting that you are dealing with it is a large part of the solution. Here's the good news...God always has a plan to restrengthen you.

Prayer is the place where we experience the presence of God and receive His strength to persevere.

When you grow weary and want to quit, go to the One that strengthens you with His strength and teaches you how to do what you need to do.

He is waiting on us to wait on Him so that He can restrengthen us with His might and power to persevere. He gives us what we need in prayer. Prayer is reaching out and reaching up.

As we pray God takes us back to the purpose that He created us and called us. We exchange our weakness for His strength. He opens our eyes to His faithfulness and goodness and what we see reinvigorates us for the next step in the journey. Just fellowshipping with our Heavenly Father changes things on the inside of us. He works His work in us when we turn to Him.

We don't need to pray and ask God for perseverance, we need to pray and expect that as we are praying God is empowering us to take the next step.

Say this: I am strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. I am strengthened in prayer to go forward and do all that the Lord wants me to do today.

Pray this: Lord, I refocus on Your faithfulness and goodness to me. You are good and Your mercy endures forever. Thank you for refilling me with Your purpose and Your spirit. Thank you for giving me Your determination and perseverance. I receive a fresh grace from Your presence today, In Jesus Name.
