Why am I Weary?

"Even young people faint and get exhausted; athletic ones may stumble and fall." (Isa 40:30 TPT)

You don't have to be old to be weary. Even the young people today are weary and tired. And when people get weary and tired, they want to give up and quit.

Here are some reasons that people are weary;

1. "God's Promises take too long"
We get weary in the waiting. Living in an instant world we want everything now. Have you caught yourself thinking "When is all of this going to end?...Are we ever going to get back to normal?...I have been doing my part and nothing happens...I am standing on the word of God, but it seems like God went on an extended vacation.

2. "I am stressed to my limit"
Stress is a strength zapper. Being weighed down with more to do than we can get done can only last for so long. We think, "I can’t take anymore. If one more person gives me some bad news I’m going to run away." Jesus says this about worry and stress. "And besides, what’s the use of worrying? What good does it do? Will it add a single day to your life? Of course not! And if worry can’t even do such little things as that, what’s the use of worrying over bigger things?” (Luke 12:25–26, The Living Bible)

3. Fatigue from an "empty tank"
Growing weary happens over time. It’s not a tragic event that hits you all at one time but a gradual draining of your strength. (Proverbs 24:10 TPT) - "If you faint when under pressure, you have need of courage." It could be that we are not aware that we are running on fumes and actually be many miles from a filling station. That’s a bad place to be in.

4. Walking in your own strength
Elijah the prophet was at the point of death trying to do it all himself. “So Elijah fled for his life; he went to Beersheba, a city of Judah, and left his servant there. Then he went on alone into the wilderness, traveling all day, and sat down under a broom bush and prayed that he might die. “I’ve had enough,” he told the Lord. “Take away my life. I’ve got to die sometime, and it might as well be now.”” (1 Kings 19:3–4, The Living Bible)

There’s danger in thinking that you are strong all on your own. We were actually created to be empowered by God. So when we try to run our race in our own power, there is never enough. We have to continually go back to our power source to be refilled.

Be strong IN THE LORD and in the power of HIS might. - (Ephesians 6:10)

If you are weary be real and admit it. But don't stay there. Go to God and exchange your weariness for His strength. Go to His throne of grace and wait on Him.

Say this: Today I am exchanging my weariness for the Lord's strength. I cannot run my race in my own power. I need empowerment from God.

Pray this: Lord, help me to recognize when I become impatient, stressed out and worried, fatigued and trying to walk in my own strength. I choose to wait on You today so that You can renew my strength. I need the empowering grace of the Holy Spirit to fill me to overflowing. I am here again to be refilled by all that You have for me, in Jesus Name!
