This is day 1 of our 21 days of prayer and fasting with a focus on the power of prayer.
The Lord directed us to the scripture in Acts where Jesus is instructing His disciples to go and wait in Jerusalem until they are empowered with the Holy Spirit.
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8, NKJV)
Jesus was talking about the SUPER natural power of God that they needed in order to be the church.
Today we have great churches with beautiful buildings that cost millions of dollars, great ministers that can speak eloquently and are very popular. We have churches that can build large organizations that provide community to help and support people and feed and clothe the poor. But we have to remember that Jesus didn’t start His church with all of the things that we find today. He said GO, WAIT and receive The Holy Spirit POWER.
He wants the church today to be filled with His power as it was in the beginning. We need to come back to the place where we are focusing on His power in us by allowing the Holy Spirit to fill us. We are supernatural beings…we are a spirit. And if we are born-again we have the spirit of God on the inside of us. The same POWER that raised Christ from the dead
To be filled with God is to be filled with His DUNAMIS power.
The word DUNAMIS is a greek word for the word power that Jesus used when He told His disciple to go, wait and receive.
We have to receive power so that we can pray with power.
I hear so many Christians today praying with hopelessness…almost begging God to do something about their situation. We need to find out from God’s word what He has already given us! We have His power and need to begin to pray from the position of power and authority. God expects us to use the strength and power of the Holy Spirit that He has given us. We are not weak and defeated, we are strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. He has given us weapons of warfare that are mighty through Him to the pulling down of strongholds.
We need to throw off this weak and defeated mentality and stand up in the power of the Holy Spirit and pray like we know who our Father is. He wants us to walk in His power and declare the name of Jesus with boldness. We created us to win and to be filled with His power.
For the next 21 days we need to become acquainted with God in a powerful way. We should expect that His power become real in our lives and PRAY WITH POWER!
